Job description


Paint Shop Repair Technician
The Paint Shop Repair Technician will be responsible for changing parts without any damage and providing color match through techniques such as adjusting air pressure, fan pattern, distance, and speed. This individual must be accustomed to using all sanding tools and equipment, including wet sander and polish. All skills used in a body shop can apply to this position. Quality is the key to duplicating OEM appearance while maintaining pace of production.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Sand, mask, prime, color match, paint, and polish vehicles needing repair to OEM standards.
  • Follow standards set by OSHA, paint manufactures (TDS/SDS), and Karma (QMS).
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness after each job, regardless of how or when it happened.
  • Meet repair deadlines while maintaining quality; work overtime as needed due to unforeseen issues.
  • Spray complete custom cars with special one-off colors.
  • Experience with a variety of paint colors (translucent), brands (Cromax), and layers(tri-coat).
  • Open to innovative ideas and methods to meet ongoing changes in the paint industry.
  • Critique, correct and improve your own paint work.
  • Rotate to other jobs such as sealer, sand, tack-off, inspect and repair, and Betafoam processes.
  • Learn all the jobs in the paint shop.
  • Spot repair areas of vehicles that need repairs.
  • Perform metal rework.
  • Complete repair/panel repairs.
  • Inspect vehicles for dents, needed repairs, and any other issues.
  • Change parts as needed.
  • Perform color-sanding and polishing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred Experience: Automotive production
  • Education: High School diploma or GED minimum.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years in a Paint Shop.
  • Preferred Certifications: Technical or trade school in paint, body, or ASE certification
  • Strong Computer skills for running necessary programs.
  • Experience with spraying gel coat preferred.
  • Paintless dent repair skill preferred.
  • Window tinting and replacement skills preferred.
  • Experience with vehicle wraps preferred.
  • Experience working in a custom body shop preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.

  • Ability to bend, turn, and stoop occasionally.
  • Ability to sit or be stationary for brief periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, duration of the shift.
  • Ability to constantly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and periodically 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 100% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in a manufacturing/ warehouse environment. When working in the facility, it requires the use of personal protective equipment, including (but not limited to) steel toe shoes, bump caps, and safety goggles. Reflective colored vests and ear protection are required in certain areas.

Compensation:
$25.00/per hour - $29.50/per hour. Compensation will vary DOE.
At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.
Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
