Job Summary

The Kaizen Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for driving continuous improvement through the design, reverse engineering, and modification of mechanical and electrical systems. This position focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and enhancing manufacturing efficiency. The Kaizen Engineer works closely with maintenance, production, and cross-functional teams to identify root causes, implement sustainable solutions, and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve existing equipment to increase efficiency, reliability, and uptime.
  • Design and develop new components, equipment, or machinery to support production goals.
  • Assist maintenance team members with troubleshooting and resolving equipment breakdowns.
  • Diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and build electrical cabinets and related control systems.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Perform metal fabrication using milling machines, lathes, CNC equipment, welders, grinders, and related tools.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems and components.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicate project updates, timelines, and results to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Technical certificate in industrial technology or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing principles, equipment, and production processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Kaizen or continuous improvement training/certifications.
  • Experience with robotics, CNC machinery, pneumatics, PLCs, and industrial electrical/mechanical systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent presence on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
