Position Overview

Kaiser Physical Therapy, a leader in rehabilitative care, is seeking a dedicated Senior Physical Therapist to join our team at the Richmond, Virginia location. This full-time position is focused on delivering exceptional physical therapy services in an onsite rehabilitation setting, where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients. As a Senior Physical Therapist, you will work collaboratively within a dedicated interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, and case managers, ensuring comprehensive and integrated care for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

Your role as a Senior Physical Therapist will involve a variety of essential tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Directing and implementing personalized physical therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician prescriptions and patient goals.
  • Overseeing and mentoring physical therapy assistants to ensure they effectively carry out interventions and adhere to care protocols.
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of patients' functional levels through diagnostic testing and assessments of muscle, joint, and nerve function.
  • Developing and updating individualized care plans based on client evaluations and making recommendations for home modifications to foster patient independence.
  • Administering therapeutic exercises, manual treatments, and techniques such as traction and massage.
  • Educating patients and their families on physical therapy protocols, equipment usage, and self-management strategies to promote recovery.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and ensuring timely submission.
  • Participating actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and collaborate on treatment strategies.
  • Advising clients and families on the use of physical therapy devices and lifestyle modifications.
  • Supervising the work of Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring compliance with state regulations and best practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will be working with a diverse population of patients ranging from post-operative individuals to those with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Many patients rely on our programs to regain their independence and improve their quality of life. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in delivering targeted rehabilitation services that facilitate these outcomes, tailored to the specific needs and goals of each individual.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid PT license in good standing in Virginia.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in a clinical setting, particularly in rehabilitation or home care environments.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of establishing rapport with patients, families, and team members.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and mentorship qualities within a collaborative team dynamic.
Preferred Experience
