Job description

Summary
Our client is a well-established, U.S.-based manufacturer, located in Carlsbad, CA, recognized for delivering high-quality, innovative products to commercial, government, and institutional markets. They are seeking a Materials & Inventory Coordinator to play a critical role in supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations through effective material flow, inventory accuracy, and cross-functional coordination. This is a hands-on, detail-driven position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys improving processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inventory & Material Control
    • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and shipping documentation
    • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, audits, and ERP system updates
    • Issue materials to production in alignment with work orders and production schedules
    • Monitor inventory levels and proactively flag shortages, discrepancies, or excess stock
    • Organize warehouse and stockroom locations to optimize accessibility and material flow
    • Support inventory transactions including transfers, adjustments, and disposals
  • RMA & Returns Coordination
    • Manage the end-to-end RMA process, including intake, inspection, documentation, and disposition
    • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service to determine root cause and resolution
    • Track RMA status and ensure timely processing and closure
    • Maintain detailed logs and generate reports on return activity and trends
  • Receiving & Logistics Support
    • Assist with receiving operations, including unloading, inspection, and documentation of shipments
    • Coordinate with shipping/receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate material movement
    • Support internal material handling across departments as needed
  • Continuous Improvement & Projects
    • Participate in physical inventory preparation and execution
    • Maintain and optimize stock locations, including overstock and WIP areas
    • Assist in inventory optimization initiatives such as reorganization, labeling, and tracking improvements
    • Contribute to process improvement efforts aligned with lean manufacturing and efficiency goals
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience & Education
    • 2+ years of experience in material control, inventory management, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment
    • Experience handling RMAs and returned goods strongly preferred
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in supply chain, logistics, or related fields are a plus
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, or similar)
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
    • Familiarity with inventory control best practices and warehouse procedures
  • Core Competencies
    • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
    • Analytical thinker with problem-solving capabilities
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
