Job description

Central Christian Academy is seeking a dependable, friendly, and service-oriented Central Café Attendant to operate the school's café during lunch hours. This position combines the responsibilities of cashier, server, and café attendant into one role and serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as faculty and staff.
The Central Café Attendant is responsible for preparing and serving beverages and light food items, processing sales, maintaining a clean and organized café, and creating a welcoming environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Food Service
  • Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Serve beverages, snacks, and light meal items efficiently and courteously.
  • Ensure younger students receive assistance as needed.
  • Monitor serving areas to promote orderly and respectful student behavior.
Cashier Responsibilities
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system or cash register.
  • Accurately process cash, credit/debit card, and electronic payments.
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate transaction records.
Café Operations
  • Prepare coffee and beverages for faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Prepare and serve approved items for students.
  • Restock drinks, condiments, utensils, and supplies throughout the day.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify administration when supplies need replenishing.
Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized café at all times.
  • Clean counters, tables, equipment, and serving areas throughout the shift.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipment, if applicable.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all food products.
Opening & Closing Responsibilities
  • Prepare the café for daily operation before students arrive.
  • Verify inventory and supplies are ready for service.
  • Secure equipment and clean the café before leaving each day.
Student Supervision
  • Help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive atmosphere during lunch service.
  • Encourage respectful behavior and promptly report disciplinary concerns to school administration.
  • Ensure students follow school expectations while using the café.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with special school events requiring café services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the School Director.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in food service, retail, café, or customer service preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and organized.
  • Enjoys working with children and adolescents.
