Job Title: Solutions Architect (Maximo) (Hybrid)

Location: Arlington, VA

Job Descriptions:

The client Solutions Architect (Maximo) to support Maximo implementation and advanced systems integration across operational, asset, and commercial platforms.

We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect (Maximo) to lead the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of our IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9) environment. This role is a hybrid of system administration and technical development, with a specific focus on complex integrations and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) workflows. You will manage the full lifecycle of Maximo applications, from Red Hat OpenShift container management to custom automation scripting.

Scope of Work

  • The Contractor shall provide Solutions Architect (Maximo) to support with architecting, configuration, customization, integration, and operational improvements within the Airports Authority’s Maximo environment.
  • The Contractor shall support the client’s IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9) operating within a Red Hat OpenShift containerized infrastructure.
  • Services shall include system administration, application development, integration design, troubleshooting, and operational support for enterprise asset management processes across airport operational, asset, and commercial platforms.
  • The Contractor shall support complex enterprise integrations, including Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) workflows, and ensure system reliability across development, test, and production environments.

Maximo System Architecture and Configuration

The Contractor shall:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional teams and technical resources to conduct requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and solution design reviews.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into high-level architecture, functional specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Architect, design and develop enterprise asset management solutions utilizing IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and scalability requirements.
  • Lead the architecture, configuration and development of Maximo applications, including workflows, business rules, domains, escalations, security groups, automation scripts, and application configurations, ensuring optimal system performance and maintainability.
  • Establish, govern, and maintain architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices for Maximo implementations, configurations, and integrations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and business partners to support, enhance and customize applications utilizing the EDI Strategic Asset Management (eSAM) framework.

System Administration

The Contractor shall:

  • Support system administration activities across Development, Test, Staging, and production environments.
  • Architect, Design and implement integration solutions utilizing the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), including Object Structures, Enterprise Services, Publish Channels, End Points, Processing Rules, and Integration Modules.
  • Develop advanced automation scripts and custom integration logic using Jython, Python, Java, and other approved technologies to support complex business processes and data transformations.
  • Configure, manage, and maintain integration technologies including REST APIs, SOAP web services, JMS messaging, OSLC services, and event-driven architectures.
  • Develop and maintain secure inbound and outbound interfaces that comply with enterprise security, data governance, and integration standards.
  • Ensure reliable data synchronization, messaging integrity, fault tolerance, and operational continuity across integrated platforms.
  • Perform customizations using Maximo Business Objects (MBOs) and Application Designer.
  • Implement real-time and near-real-time integration patterns utilizing messaging queues, event triggers, and asynchronous processing mechanisms.
  • Provide additional Maximo administration and support activities as required to maintain system reliability and business continuity.

System Integration and Interface Development

The Contractor shall:

  • Architect, design, develop, and support bidirectional integrations between Maximo and enterprise systems, including but not limited to Workday, GIS platforms, IoT systems, financial systems, and other business applications.
  • Architect custom Integration Solutions using the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), including the configuration of Object Structures, Publish Channels, Enterprise Services, and Integration Modules.
  • Develop Sophisticated Logic using Automation Scripts (Jython/Python) to manage complex data transformations and business logic during the integration process.
  • Expertly configure and maintain diverse interface protocols, using REST APIs, SOAP services, JMS messaging, and OSLC standards.
  • Standardize Data Exchange by building and managing inbound/outbound integration services that adhere to enterprise security and mapping protocols.
  • Ensure reliable data synchronization, messaging integrity, and operational continuity across integrated platforms.
  • Develop integration architecture artifacts, interface specifications, and data mapping documentation to support long-term maintainability.
  • Implement real-time and near-real-time integration patterns utilizing messaging queues, event triggers, and asynchronous processing mechanisms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration services, queues, interfaces, and pipelines to ensure system health, performance, and scalability.

Troubleshooting and Production Support

The Contractor shall:

  • Investigate, analyze and resolve production issues affecting Maximo applications and integrations.
  • Perform root cause analysis of application failures, integration errors, performance bottlenecks, and system outages.
  • Develop and Implement corrective actions and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and technical debt reduction to enhance overall platform effectiveness.
  • Provide advanced technical support and escalation assistance for critical incidents affecting operational systems.

Technical Documentation

The Contractor shall develop and maintain technical documentation including:

  • Solution architecture and system design & Integration documentation.
  • System configuration documentation, Integration architecture, interface specifications, customization, and deployment documentation and data mapping documentation.
  • Technical standards, development guidelines, and best practice recommendations.
  • Incident reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action documentation for major system issues.
  • Knowledge transfer materials and technical training documentation to support operational readiness and long-term system sustainability.

Required Qualifications

The Contractor shall provide personnel meeting the following minimum qualifications.

Solutions Architect (Maximo)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in architecting, implementing, and supporting IBM Maximo solutions.
  • Proven experience supporting IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 8/9) environments.
  • Strong expertise in Maximo architecture, including Managed Business Objects (MBOs), workflows, domains, and database configuration.
  • Proficiency in developing Automation Scripts using Jython or Python.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and supporting integrations using the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), including REST/SOAP web services, JMS messaging, and OSLC protocol.
  • Deep understanding of the Maximo data model, object structures, and business object configuration.
  • Working knowledge of Java, SQL, and version control systems such as Git.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting core Maximo modules, including Work Management (Work Orders), Asset Management, Inventory, and Procurement (Purchasing).
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining Maximo BIRT reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Maximo industry solutions such as Utilities, Transportation, or Service Provider editions.
  • IBM Certified Deployment Professional – Maximo Asset Management.
  • Experience implementing Maximo Mobile or Graphite-based mobile solutions.
  • Experience with EDI Strategic Asset Management (eSAM).
