The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals, for temporary employment not to exceed 6 months, for the DuQuoin State Fair summer season. Temporary employees are needed for the following area: Security. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to work in a constantly changing fast paced environment. Successful candidates will be individuals who can work promptly and efficiently in order to maintain that the DuQuoin State Fair, as well as non-fair events, run effectively. Essential Functions
  • Under immediate supervision, and on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed six months, performs a variety of unskilled manual labor and/or simple clerical duties. Monitors an assigned area during the Du Quoin State Fair (DSF).
  • Relieves or covers other assigned stations as instructed, when needed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of elementary school.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers experience working with the general public and assisting with general inquiries.
  • Prefers experience maintaining satisfactory working relationships with management, other employees, and members of the public.
  • Prefers experience with understanding and following written and oral instructions.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be able to pass a name-based sex offender registry check.
  • Must be able to work all 11 days of the State Fair, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to work for up to 8-12 hours a day.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • This position may require a valid driver's license.

We are looking to fill positions in the area outlined below:
  • Security - This position will be responsible for securing a designated area on the grounds in an effort to assist the Illinois State Police to ensure the safety of fair goers and exhibits. Must be at least 18 yearsold.

Applications will be scored and ranked from highest to lowest score. Applicants will be offered employment in score order. Applicants scoring 1 or less will only be contacted if necessary to fill any vacant positions.
