Overview

Design Engineer at Ashby is a hybrid role that combines hands‑on design and engineering to build a high‑quality, scalable talent‑acquisition platform. The role focuses on delivering cohesive, beautiful, and functional UI/UX while simultaneously shipping code to hundreds of thousands of users.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to solve the toughest design problems on the platform.
  • Expand and maintain the company’s design system, creating flexible, composable components that enable consistent experiences across the product.
  • Consult with product engineers on bespoke design work required for new features.
  • Build core UI features such as the mobile web app, candidate assessment views, and interactive wizards that drive user productivity.
  • Iterate on designs rapidly, shipping to a subset of users, and refine based on real‑time feedback.
Qualifications & Experience Levels
  • Junior Design Engineer – Up to 2 years of industry experience as a designer or engineer, with a portfolio of visual design work that demonstrates taste and growing product design skill.
  • Design Engineer (Mid/Senior) – 2+ years of continuous experience, proficient in both design and engineering, with a proven record of shipping complete features to user base.
  • Staff Design Engineer – Professional experience leading design‑engineering initiatives, significant contributions to a design system, and a history of iterating on features based on user feedback.
Tech Stack
