Description
The Department of Academic Information Technology is accepting applications for its Senior Web & Application Systems Developer position.
Examples of Duties
  • Serve as the technical lead for web and application development projects, setting standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
  • Provide architectural direction for web systems, APIs, integrations, and application environments.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and campus stakeholders to plan system improvements, upgrades, and long-term development strategies.
  • Mentor junior developers, web staff, and student workers; provide technical oversight and code review.
  • Oversee backend operations of the College's website and associated platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Design and implement enhancements to web infrastructure, including server configurations, security policies, and system optimizations.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and lead response efforts for high-impact web incidents or outages.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG), security requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Provide high-level technical support and consultation to faculty, staff, and departments regarding web applications, data integrations, and system capabilities.

Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in web development, application development, or systems integration.
  • Significant experience with Ellucian Banner, including API development, Oracle-based data structures, and integration frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in backend development (e.g., PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript/Nodejs).
  • Strong SQL skills; Oracle experience highly preferred.
  • Expertise with API frameworks, ETL processes, REST/SOAP, and system integration technologies.

  • Thorough understanding of security standards, identity management (SSO, SAML, OAuth), and data governance principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical project management and system architecture.
