Job description

ABOUT US
Reframe Systems is a Physical AI and robotics company on a mission to make high-performance housing attainable and abundant in the communities where people want to live. Through our vertically integrated delivery model and highly automated microfactories, we deliver climate-resilient homes and buildings with greater speed and predictability than traditional construction.
Our volumetric modular buildings are produced in our Andover, MA microfactory, with a growing pipeline across North America and a new microfactory on the way. We are building a system that balances repeatability with site-responsive design, enabling homes adaptable to each site, community, and customer need. Our cross-disciplinary team brings together architecture, robotics, design engineering, software, factory operations, and field delivery to change how housing gets delivered.
We're reimagining the future of housing through a smarter and more sustainable system that empowers people to live better. Come build it with us.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Junior Design Engineer to help transform the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) design process. This means creating parameterized designs that are far more detailed than traditional AEC workflows. The role includes augmenting CAD workflows with advanced scripting and automated design logic, and generating supporting assets to aid manufacturing. We are looking for a problem-solving self-starter who likes a challenge and thrives in a multidisciplinary environment.
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual to join our Design Engineering team.
The right candidate will play a crucial role in engineering designs, taking them from concept to fabrication for residential and low-rise multi-family buildings. This role requires a strong background in CAD software, with deep understanding of parametric design and 3D model management. The preferred candidate will have successfully designed and built products while effectively addressing challenges related to design for manufacturing, implementing design automation, and ensuring clear delivery of work instructions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • CAD Modeling and Detailing: Collaborate with architects to engineer design concepts, converting them into high-fidelity 3D CAD models.
  • Parametric Design: Collaborate with software developers to set requirements and rulesets for parametrized modeling that can be written into software to automate modeling.
  • Work Instruction Creation: Collaborate with operations and build teams to generate the right assets for the operators to build from effectively. Generate details for structural, MEPF and other systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Modeling Strategy: Develop and implement high-impact decisions for an evolving modeling strategy, adapting to new tools and designs while preserving speed and flexibility, with the ultimate goals of standardization and automation in mind.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly: Have a keen understanding of the processes, machines, and people that manufacture and assemble designs. Find opportunities for improving the design to remove parts, simplify materials, and the make resulting product simpler, easier, and faster to assemble.
  • CAD Management: Organize and maintain controlled documentation of 3D models and work instruction files, in a highly collaborative cloud environment, to ensure that the latest versions are readily accessible.
  • Quality Assurance: Own the modeling and work instructions review process, ensuring 3D models are accurate, complete, and compliant with project standards and regulations. Make revisions as necessary to address design changes or discrepancies.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 2+ years of experience as a Design Engineer is required for this role. Bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required. Background in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Onshape (or similar - CATIA, Solidworks, CREO). Knowledge of Revit is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce maintainable 3D models.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well both cross-functionally and within a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Experience with wood-based construction is a plus.

Reframe Systems is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
If you believe you have the skills to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply-even if you don't meet 100% of the listed requirements. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
