Job description

Overview

Seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing, employee-owned MEP consulting engineering firm. This role is ideal for an engineer with 5-10 years of experience who is ready to take ownership of project deliverables, serve as a key technical resource, and work directly with clients and project teams on complex facilities.

You will contribute to the design and delivery of projects across our Science & Technology and Mission Critical markets, including laboratories, life sciences and pharmaceutical facilities, telecommunications infrastructure, data centers, and secure environments. We are looking for a technically strong engineer who combines sound engineering judgment with excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and emergency power systems.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, voltage drop analyses, and other design studies.
  • Support the design of standby power systems, generators, UPS systems, and critical power distribution infrastructure.
  • Evaluate existing electrical systems and develop recommendations for renovations, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and owner teams throughout project delivery.
  • Participate in client meetings, site investigations, design reviews, and construction progress meetings.
  • Assist Project Managers with project planning, scope management, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, and punch list activities.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and technical leaders to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to project goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers while contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable building codes, energy codes, industry standards, and firm quality requirements.
Desired Technical Experience

Candidates should have experience in many of the following areas:

  • Utility service and power distribution design
  • Panelboard, switchboard, and switchgear design

  • UPS and critical power infrastructure

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical design within an MEP consulting engineering environment.
  • EIT certification required; PE license or progress toward licensure preferred.
  • Experience with data centers, mission critical, life sciences, laboratory, healthcare, telecommunications, or other technically demanding facilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building codes, energy codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
