Junior Stylists are entry-level professionals in the fashion and beauty industry who assist senior stylists in tasks such as selecting outfits, preparing clients for photoshoots, and organizing wardrobe pieces. They often help with fittings, trend research, and the day-to-day operations of styling projects. Junior Stylists gain hands-on experience while developing their own skills and industry connections, with the goal of advancing to more senior roles over time. This role typically requires a keen eye for fashion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a junior stylist?

To thrive as a Junior Stylist, you need a solid understanding of fashion trends, garment construction, and basic styling principles, usually supported by a relevant diploma or on-the-job experience. Familiarity with digital mood boards, photo editing software, and inventory management systems is often required. Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and attention to detail help you build client relationships and deliver standout looks. These skills ensure you can effectively assist senior stylists, contribute to creative projects, and meet client expectations in a fast-paced environment.

What challenges does a junior stylist face when starting out, and how can they overcome them?

As a Junior Stylist, one common challenge is balancing creative vision with the specific needs and preferences of clients or senior team members. The Role and Team

You will be a senior technical leader within the team responsible for developing, scaling, and maintaining the DXA(Digital Experience Analytics) reporting tool. A primary focus of this role will be driving the strategic migration of the DXA portal from our legacy Backbone framework to our modern, Alchemy-based React framework.
Additionally, you will help architect and manage the Node.js-based microservices that power the DXA portal. As our team actively works toward achieving FedRAMP compliance for our reporting platform, you will play a critical role in aligning our frontend architecture, data handling, and security practices with federal compliance standards. As a senior member of the team, you will not only write high-quality code but also establish best practices, mentor other developers, and collaborate closely with product and design teams to shape our technical roadmap.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you will own all aspects of the software development lifecycle, with an emphasis on architecture, quality, security, and leadership:

  • Architect & Scale: Design and implement robust, reusable web architectures, state management systems, and client-side algorithms for the DXA portal.
  • Drive Migration: Take a leading role in successfully transitioning legacy Backbone codebases into a modern, performance-optimized React/Alchemy architecture.
  • Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security and engineering teams to ensure frontend interfaces, data storage, network calls, and authentication flows meet FedRAMP compliance requirements and federal security standards.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and perform constructive code reviews for junior and mid-level engineers to elevate the team's technical capabilities.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Partner with product managers and designers to translate complex requirements into scalable technical designs, owning projects from concept through to deployment.
  • Quality & Best Practices: Champion code quality, performance optimization, accessibility (a11y), security hardening, and comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end)

Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity will be prioritized as this role is Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligibility Requirement: Must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card (Lawful Permanent Resident) to meet AWS GovCloud compliance requirements.
  • 6+ years of professional experience developing, shipping, and maintaining complex, high-performance web applications in production.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building applications using React and its ecosystem.
  • TypeScript & Modern Web Standards: Professional experience building typed web applications in Typescript (ES6+), utilizing semantic HTML5 and modern styling methodologies (e.g., CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules, or utility-first CSS).
  • Automated Testing & QA: Hands-on experience with unit and integration tests using frameworks such as Jest or React Testing Library, including experience with mocking and automated test pipelines.
  • Software Architecture: Experience designing modular front-end architectures and applying software design patterns.
  • Technical Communication: Experience authoring technical design documentation and presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or maintaining software within FedRAMP, SOC 2, HIPAA, or other highly regulated compliance frameworks.
  • Migration Experience: Proven experience successfully migrating large-scale legacy codebases (ideally from BackboneJS, AngularJS, or similar) to modern React.
  • Strong backend familiarity, particularly with NodeJS and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with web security best practices (OWASP Top 10, secure session management, CSP, dependency scanning).
  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
