Job description

We’re rapidly expanding and looking for an insurance underwriting assistant to help move insurance policy decisions forward. In this position, you’ll collect and enter accurate information for new, existing, and prospective clients that serves as the foundation for decisions made by your insurance underwriter counterparts. As you support their efforts, you will grow and hone your own communications, data entry, and reporting skills, advancing to future opportunities. Compensation:

$35,000 yearly


Responsibilities:
  • Call, email, and meet with applicants to collect and assess insurance information that will guide the risk assessment process and provides underwriting support
  • Create analytics-based reports that can be used to make coverage determinations and set policy guidelines
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records within underwriting software programs by verifying all documents for accuracy and completion in order to provide sound policy recommendations to prospective and existing customers
  • Document and communicate policy approvals or rejections to the underwriting team, insurance agents, supervisors, and clients in a timely manner
  • Serve as the liaison for underwriters and customers in order to track, manage, and prioritize insurance applications and other services

  • Review both new and renewal policies for accuracy
  • Review changes to client policies for accuracy


Qualifications:
  • Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation considered a bonus
  • Must have strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Keen attention to detail necessary to collect and maintain insurance customer information
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business administration, or other related field
  • Working as an administrative assistant or similar, or a role in the insurance industry is a plus
