Job Summary
As a Junior Process Engineer, you will support the delivery of process engineering activities across energy, oil and gas projects under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will contribute to process design, engineering calculations, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary project execution while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, client specifications, and company procedures. This contract opportunity offers exposure to a variety of projects and provides the opportunity to develop technical expertise within a global engineering environment.  This position is based out of our Burlington, ON office.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Engineering Support

  • Assist in the preparation of process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process descriptions, and engineering reports.
  • Perform routine process engineering calculations, including material and energy balances, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing under supervision.
  • Support the development and review of process datasheets and technical specifications for process equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into engineering deliverables.
Project Execution
  • Support the execution of projects through all engineering phases, including concept, FEED, detailed design, and commissioning support as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated and coordinated project delivery.
  • Assist with technical evaluations, document reviews, and engineering change management activities.
  • Contribute to meeting project schedules, quality requirements, and client expectations.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in hazard identification and process safety reviews, including HAZID and HAZOP activities, as appropriate.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with senior engineers, project teams, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding engineering progress and technical matters.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide engineering input as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0–3 years of relevant process engineering experience within the energy, oil and gas, or industrial sectors.
  • Understanding of fundamental process engineering principles, equipment design, and process calculations.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • General knowledge of process engineering software and engineering design tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop technical capabilities within a project delivery environment.
