Job Summary:
Merge IT is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to provide hands-on technical support with a focus on network-related troubleshooting, configuration, and deployment. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication with customers, along with participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Responsibilities:
• Provide support for end users, with emphasis on network-related issues.
• Participate in and follow network troubleshooting discussions, escalating when necessary.
• Engage with SMEs, offshore resources, and team members to resolve complex technical problems.
• Manage ServiceNow tickets, ensuring timely updates and resolution according to SLA.
• Communicate effectively with customers through email and status reports.
• Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of desktop systems and network-connected devices.
• Maintain focus on team-wide issues and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Participate in an on-call rotation every other weekend to provide after-hours support.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum 3+ years of networking experience, preferably in a Cisco environment.
• Strong understanding of Cisco Routing and Switching (CCNA preferred).
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM ticketing platforms.
• Familiarity with desktop support processes, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
• Ability to interpret and apply basic network design principles across access, distribution, and core layers.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Routing & Switching.
Preferred:
• Strong communication, technical, and interpersonal skills for customer-facing support.
• Experience with fiber path planning, cabling, and rack-mounted hardware installation.
• Knowledge of IOS upgrades and configuration loads.
• Proficiency with Cisco CLI commands.
• Prior experience supporting users in enterprise or service provider environments.
• Exposure to hybrid support teams (onshore and offshore collaboration).
