Are you an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator looking to take ownership of high-profile mechanical projects while working for one of the industry's premier mechanical contractors?


We're seeking a Senior Commercial HVAC Estimator to lead the estimating efforts for complex commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC projects.


You'll play a critical role in winning profitable work by developing accurate estimates, building relationships with owners and general contractors, identifying value engineering opportunities, and helping drive strategic growth across the business.

What You'll Do

As our Senior Commercial HVAC Estimator, you'll take ownership of the entire estimating process from opportunity identification through proposal delivery.


Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare detailed estimates for commercial HVAC service, retrofit, replacement, and new construction projects.
  • Estimate complex design-build and plan-spec mechanical projects.
  • Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop complete labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits when needed.
  • Solicit and negotiate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate project risks and develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities that provide cost savings while maintaining project quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, architects, general contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Support business development by identifying new project opportunities and developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Present proposals and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
  • Collaborate closely with operations to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
  • Mentor junior estimators and help develop best practices across the estimating team.


What We're Looking For


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of commercial HVAC estimating experience.
  • Proven experience estimating self-performed commercial HVAC projects valued at $10 million or more.
  • Extensive experience estimating commercial mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, piping, sheet metal, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with both design-build and plan-spec projects.
  • Ability to develop conceptual budgets with limited design information.
  • Strong knowledge of labor production rates, material costs, subcontractor management, and project scheduling.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, HVAC Technology, or a related field.
  • Associate degree with equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
