POSITION SUMMARY:
The Software Development Engineer (often called Software Developer) designs, builds, tests, and maintains software applications or systems to meet user and business needs. Software Development Engineers analyze requirements, design solutions, write code, and ensure the resulting software is reliable, performant, and maintainable. They work across the software development lifecycle, collaborating with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features and fixes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Analyze user and system requirements and translate them into technical specifications and software designs.
  2. Design, implement, and maintain software components, applications, or services using one or more programming languages (such as Java, C++, Python, C#, or others).
  3. Modify existing software to fix defects, improve performance, adapt to new hardware, or enhance functionality and user interfaces.
  4. Write and execute unit tests, participate in code reviews, and support system testing and validation to ensure quality and correctness.
  5. Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack, identify root causes, and implement robust solutions.
  6. Document designs, code changes, and processes, and prepare technical reports or status updates as needed.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, QA, operations, UX) throughout planning, development, deployment, and maintenance.
  8. Stay current with software development tools, techniques, and best practices, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  2. Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages
  3. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
  4. Familiarity with version control systems and modern software development workflows
  5. Experience with specific platforms such as web, mobile, embedded systems, or cloud, depending on the role
  6. Knowledge of relevant frameworks or technical domains, especially for more specialized positions
  7. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  8. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly for mid-level or senior roles

TRAVEL REQUIRED (%):
Travel gt;25%, including visits to customers and suppliers as well as day trips to various manufacturing facilities as required and for training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good teambuilding skills.
