Overview

Job Purpose

At Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), we engineer technology, exchanges and clearing houses that connect companies around the world to global capital and derivative markets.  With a leading-edge approach to developing technology platforms, we have built market infrastructure in all major trading centers, offering customers the ability to manage risk and make informed decisions globally.  By leveraging our core strengths in technology, we continue to identify new ways to serve our customers and transform global markets. We're looking for motivated, results-oriented people to join our team.

The Settlements Platform is missioncritical market infrastructure at ICE, transforming global trading activity into official, auditable settlement valuations-at scale, on schedule, and with correctness guarantees across time zones, cut times, and realworld market exceptions. These settlement prices are used for mark-to-market, margin calculations, and regulatory reporting across global derivatives markets. As a Senior Developer, you will play a central role in modernizing the Settlements platform by both extending a complex, existing ecosystem and designing new backend services from the ground up. You will work across greenfield initiatives and established systems, balancing innovation with the operational rigor required for a core market infrastructure.

  • Be able to independently handle project activities related to builds and deployments.
  • Be able to create software tests, verify the functionality and quality of the software.
  • Create design documentation for new software development and subsequent versions.
  • Utilize AI tools and technologies to enhance developer productivity, streamline code generation, and improve overall development efficiency.
  • Provide second-tier production support for 24/7 applications.
  • Provide support for deployments during maintenance windows.
  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise, in the dev, QA and production rollout cycles.
  • Keep test environments up to date and in working order, creating environment-specific configurations and applications as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and optimize applications.
  • Work with business analysts or product management in understanding new requirements.
  • Follow team guidelines for quality and consistency within the design and development phases of the application(s).
  • Follow company software development processes and standards.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Java design and development

  • 2+ years of experience with open-source frameworks like Spring

  • 2+ years of experience with Tomcat/SpringBoot/Vertx or equivalent application servers

  • Solid understanding of security concerns for web-based applications

  • Able to write and troubleshoot PL/SQL queries

  • Experience with writing comprehensive unit tests

  • Experience with SDLC Tools like GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, Maven, or equivalent tools

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Working knowledge of software testing, building high quality software, and experience with software testing tools, regression testing etc

  • Familiarity with financial markets, derivatives, or exchange/clearing operations is a plus

  • Working knowledge and use of AI tools such as GitHub copilot, Cursor, or Claude

  • Proven success working in a team environment

  • Frontend experience with ReactJS or Angular is a strong plus - candidates who enjoy full-stack ownership will have opportunities to contribute across the entire feature lifecycle
