Salary: $31.28 - $46.07 Plus a 7% Market Adjustment  
Type of Position: Permanent Full Time

JOB SUMMARY 

Designs, codes, tests, documents, implements and supports complex computer programs in order to meet the requirements of the clients and the corporation. Assists in the analysis and design of computer based systems. 
 

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)

  1. Performs program design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, configuration, and support for computer based systems. These tasks are applicable to new systems development, system enhancement and external software packages.
  2. Prepares system design specifications, development plans, updates corporate models, and develops backup and recovery procedures. Participates in the on the job training of junior programmers.
  3. Tracks and monitors the performance of current and/or new systems and corrects operational problems when they occur with production systems software.
  4. Maintains close liaison with client departments to keep abreast of the changing business environment which affects the ultimate design of new systems and enhancements to current production systems.
  5. Assists in the retrieval of information, as requested by clients.
  6. Maintains current knowledge of technological advancements as they relate to application development and participates in the research and development of new tools, techniques, and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1.  a) Recognized University Degree majoring in Computer Science from a CIPS accredited institution or recognized equivalency OR
     b) Recognized Computer Science Diploma in information systems or computer technology from a CIPS accredited institution or recognized equivalency OR
     c) University Degree in Software Engineering OR
     d) Two years current experience in developing and/or supporting application software in a professional development environment
  2. Working knowledge of computer science and programming concepts
  3. Excellent problem analysis and problem solving ability
  4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to deal effectively with others.
  6. Ability to plan and organize in self directed and team environments.

SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Responds to callouts in accordance to the Collective Agreement.
  2. Works alone when called out.
  3. Occasional in/out of province travel required.
  4. Complies with all safety, health and environmental policies, programs and standards at all times.
