Job Description

The Web Developer will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining rich Internet applications in a Portal framework.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Web Developers, Database Developers, Business Analysts and other departments to architect and implement new functionality.
  • Propose new project features and website functionality.
  • Effectively handle multiple concurrent projects.
  • Lead projects to develop multi-tier web-based applications and communicate technical parameters and constraints to relevant teams.
  • Create web based applications from business specifications that meet brand guidelines
  • Architect and build websites that are cross-browser and cross-platform compliant
  • Assist with planning and development of new user interfaces for web based tools.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field of study or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the field of web development.
  • Demonstrated history of staying current with new technologies and skills.

 

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Experience developing on a full project life cycle, from requirements to delivery
  • Server side scripting experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with test driven development and deployment tools
  • Experience with AJAX and related technologies including CSS and JavaScript
  • Must be very experienced with at least one JavaScript framework.
  • Understanding of Object Oriented programming techniques
  • Experience working within a multi-tiered web application framework
  • Experience with developing and integrating REST web API's
  • Experience creating web pages using standards compliant XHTML and HTML5
  • Knowledge of relational databases and strong SQL data access skills

MUST HAVE'S:

  • 5+ years of development experience
  • 2+ years of Ruby experience
  • TDD (Test Driven Development
  • Experience with GitHub is preferred but not required
