Description: Position Summary


The Manufacturing Engineer II – Busbar is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes that support the safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication of copper and aluminum busbars used in electrical distribution products. This role works closely with Production, Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to optimize fabrication processes, improve product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and support new product introductions.

The Manufacturing Engineer II works independently on most assignments, leads process improvement initiatives, develops standardized manufacturing methods, mentors junior engineers and production personnel, and serves as a technical resource for busbar manufacturing operations.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and optimize busbar manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. 
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing waste, increasing throughput, and lowering manufacturing costs. 
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities to improve fabrication processes and equipment utilization. 
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, manufacturing procedures, visual work aids, and standard operating procedures. 
  • Design and implement fixtures, tooling, jigs, and manufacturing aids to improve repeatability and productivity. 
  • Support fabrication processes including cutting, punching, drilling, bending, forming, deburring, finishing, and assembly of copper and aluminum busbars. 
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability and reduce production complexity. 
  • Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing methods and validating production processes. 
  • Perform root cause analysis on manufacturing and quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies and implement corrective actions. 
  • Partner with Quality to investigate defects and implement preventive actions. 
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment and recommend process improvements or capital equipment investments. 
  • Support equipment installation, validation, commissioning, and startup activities. 
  • Train production personnel on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and standardized work. 
  • Mentor Manufacturing Engineer I team members and provide technical guidance to production staff. 
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and ISO procedures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and busbar manufacturing processes. 
  • Understanding of copper and aluminum material characteristics, fabrication techniques, and tolerances.

Requirements: Qualifications


Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 
  • 3–6 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience supporting metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing operations. 
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. 
  • Experience with root cause analysis and process optimization. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to independently manage multiple engineering projects. 
Preferred
  • Experience manufacturing electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, busway, panelboards, or related power distribution products. 
  • Experience working with copper and aluminum fabrication processes. 
  • Experience with CNC fabrication equipment, press brakes, punches, or similar manufacturing equipment. 
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. 
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, and process validation. 
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
