Job description

Junior IT Software Engineer โ€“ Robotics & Factory Automation

Location: Guntersville, AL | Full-Time | Entry Level

About the Role

Ready to kickstart your engineering career at the intersection of robotics and smart manufacturing? We are seeking a highly motivated Junior IT Software Engineer to join our team in Guntersville, AL. This hybrid factory-and-office role offers a hands-on entry point into the world of autonomous systems, where you will spend part of your time directly on the production floor alongside our robotics team and the remainder developing and maintaining critical internal software applications.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Working closely with senior software engineers, you will write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in C++ and Python while helping test, deploy, and debug software updates. On the factory floor, you will assist in setting up, calibrating, and commissioning new Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and robotic workstations, monitoring real-time performance, collecting operational data, and documenting field issues to drive system improvements.

Your office and system integration duties will include supporting software integration with existing factory systems, executing manual and automated testing in both simulation and physical environments, and creating custom internal tools for data analysis and system monitoring.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

We are looking for candidates holding a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field. Essential skills include a solid foundational knowledge of C++ and/or Python, a basic understanding of the software development lifecycle, experience with Linux operating systems, and strong analytical problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills and the agility to balance hands-on factory floor troubleshooting with office-based development are required.

Bonus points if you bring internship or project experience with robotics, familiarity with industrial automation concepts, hands-on exposure to frameworks like ROS and simulation tools, or validation certificates in ROS and cloud platforms.

What We Offer

We invest in our entry-level talent with a competitive starter compensation package and comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. You will receive paid time off (PTO) and company-recognized paid holidays to keep your work-life balanced. We also support your long-term financial health with a 401(k) retirement plan featuring an immediate company match, alongside mentorship from veteran engineers to accelerate your professional growth.

Work Environment & Travel

This role splits time between a dynamic factory environment and a standard office setting, with light travel to affiliate locations expected around 10% of the time. Candidates should be comfortable working on an active production floor and willing to be on-call periodically for critical operational issues.
