What You'll Do
The Junior Loss Prevention Analyst supports the organization's efforts to reduce inventory shrink, identify other process weaknesses related to loss prevention across retail and wholesale automotive parts operations. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and naturally curious, with a strong desire to investigate discrepancies and help improve internal controls.
The successful candidate will assist in analyzing variances, reviewing transaction activity, identifying trends, and supporting investigations into potential losses, errors, or process breakdowns. This individual will work closely with store operations, warehouse teams, purchasing, accounting, and management to help protect company assets and improve operational accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze inventory variances, shrink reports, stock adjustments, returns, credits, and transfer activity to identify irregularities or trends.
  • Assist with investigations related to inventory loss, internal process failures, unauthorized transactions, Cash theft and other operational issues.
  • Review retail and wholesale transaction data for unusual patterns, exceptions, or high-risk activity.
  • Support cycle count and physical inventory review processes by validating results and researching discrepancies.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on loss prevention metrics, inventory issues, and investigation findings.
  • Work with branch, warehouse, and head office teams to gather information, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records of investigations, findings, and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in loss prevention audits and assist with follow-up on action items.
  • Escalate significant concerns, suspicious activity, or recurring issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Support special projects related to loss prevention.
  • Oversee company surveillance systems and monitor video footage as required.

Qualfications

  • 1-2+ years of experience with data and variance analysis
  • Direct loss prevention experience is considered an asset
  • Results oriented individual with a passion for loss prevention
  • Experience in automotive parts, retail, wholesale distribution, or inventory-intensive environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with reports, spreadsheets, and large volumes of data
