What You'll Do
As a Senior Analyst (SA) within BCG's Industrial Goods Practice Area you will work in a growing global team, providing metals & mining expertise and insights whilst working together with case and proposal teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis and expert advisory. You'll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues.
Additionally, you will support the broader Metals & Mining sector in developing existing & new intellectual property and knowledge assets. You will work on commercialization efforts for the topic/sector, in conjunction with business leaders, supporting marketing efforts, conferences and publications. As a Senior Analyst you will assist with on-boarding, training and guiding junior colleagues and share best practices within the team.
We partner with Industrial Goods clients in all regions to identify their highest-value opportunities, address their most critical challenges, and transform their enterprises. This role has a focus specifically on the Mining Industry. Our customized approach combines deep insight into the dynamics of companies and markets with close collaboration at all levels of the client organization. This ensures that our clients achieve sustainable competitive advantage, build more capable organizations, and secure lasting results.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
  • Solving client problems through formulating relevant research and/or analytical approaches in metals & mining space
  • Codifying knowledge and maintaining assets and tools for the metals & mining sector based on different client contexts
  • Deep understanding of commodity market fundamentals (supply-demand dynamics, pricing mechanisms, cost curves, trade flows) and the ability to translate these into strategic implications for mining entities
  • Strong experience in mining, mine operations, or mine economics, including production planning, cost structures (OPEX/CAPEX), capital allocation, and key operational and economic value drivers
  • Experience working with external databases and market intelligence platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P Global, Wood Mackenzie (or similar industry databases)
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders, in a credible and confident way
  • Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
  • Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity

What You'll Bring
  • 3-4+ years of consulting experience in relevant metals & mining space required; candidates with consulting experience preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 2+ years minimum industry experience required; 3-6+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
  • High proficiency in Excel, including complex modelling and data analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Fluency in English;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environment

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.
• The base salary range for this role in Chicago is $100,500-$108,500
This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.
In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 16% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
