Job Description:
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician who will ensure that our production and manufacturing assets are fully utilized and maintained on a daily basis while adhering to proper safety rules and regulations. The incumbent will be asked to perform routine maintenance on sophisticated equipment (extruder, panel line). The Mechanics will work with the Maintenance Manager to plan and schedule equipment downtime, along with documenting logs and machine failures. Compensation and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience level.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain machine logs to record the type and incidence of errors, repairs or maintenance performed and machine settings.
- Lead preventative and routine mechanical maintenance on machines.
- Lead mechanical breakdown and/or repair on equipment including rigging, disassembly, cleaning and re-alignment of extrusion system.
- Maintain and repair support infrastructure including both air and water supplies.
- Troubleshoot performance issues working with machine operators and engineers by listening, checking speed, tracking belts, etc.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical issues
- Assist with and oversee the development of Junior Mechanics
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and high-level efficiency of hand tools, power tools, drill press, grinders, etc. Knowledge of safe working practices with rotating and high voltage machinery.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements including lock-out/tag-out, confined spaces, MSDS, etc.
- Ability to disassemble and assemble gearboxes, pumps.
- Ability to identify and measure critical tolerances or dimensions.
- Ability to know that gearboxes and pumps need alignment.
- Ability to work cohesively with other team members, and to contribute positively to the work environment.
Experience:
- Experience with extrusion or lamination machines or comparable manufacturing process.
- Experience as millwright, pipefitter or steelworker, preferred.
Education and Certifications:
- HS diploma or GED required, Technical or Vocation School, preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Be on your feet for 10-12 hours
- Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
- Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
- Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
- Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
The maximum full-time hourly pay for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount TemperPack is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Richmond, VA: Hourly pay up to $45 for the Maintenance Technician
