Job description

We are seeking a Rail / Transportation Professional Engineer (PE) to lead and support the design and delivery of railway and transportation infrastructure projects across Texas. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer ready to take ownership of project tasks, mentor junior staff, and contribute meaningfully to a growing rail practice.
  • Lead and support the development of rail and civil design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for rail, transit, and transportation projects.
  • Prepare and review track geometry, grading, drainage, roadway/rail interface details, and other key design components.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of multidisciplinary project teams, including structures, drainage, environmental, and signals/communications.
  • Support project managers with design criteria development, project guidelines, schedules, and meeting documentation.
  • Independently lead small to mid-sized projects or major design components of larger, complex rail infrastructure projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering interns, designers, and CAD technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as AREMA, FRA, and TxDOT (where applicable).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and team success.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) (Texas preferred or ability to obtain by reciprocity).
  • 7-8+ years of progressive engineering experience in rail, transit, or transportation infrastructure design.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation (OpenRail or InRoads experience highly valued).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Strong command of MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing detailed design plans and supporting technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
