Job description

Job Title: Junior Quality Control Technician
Department: Center Fresh Quality Assurance
Location: Sioux Center, IA
Reports To: Processing Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The Junior Quality Control Technician position is responsible for supporting compliance with Federal and State regulations, as well as company policies, to maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role collaborates with various departments to implement and monitor food safety and quality plans, contributing to the organization's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Employees in this role will also be expected to work on the production line to complete scheduled hours while continuing to support quality assurance functions.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed USDA, company, and customer specifications.
  • Monitor and verify compliance with Federal and State regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain all logs, records, test instruments, and supplies.
  • Monitor/test wash water, sanitizer concentration, pH levels, cooler temperatures, and other processing control points.
  • Perform pre-operational sanitation inspections to ensure equipment cleanliness.
  • Oversee product traceability within hold and rework programs.
  • Candle shell egg samples for quality.
  • Monitor sanitary conditions and ensure GMPs during processing.
  • Communicate deviations and/or deficiencies to management promptly.
  • Support operations to ensure efficient plant operation while maintaining compliance.
  • Work on the production line as needed to fulfill scheduled hours and support operational demands.
  • Maintain compliance with all quality, food safety, and site safety policies.
  • Promote a culture consistent with Versova's Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organized, goal-oriented, and accountable.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and perform production duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Food safety or quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.

Work Environment
The role involves standing for extended periods while hand candling eggs and bending and stooping to obtain readings. The position requires maintaining a fast pace continually and ensuring compliance with all safety and sanitation standards within the facility. Team members will also spend portions of their shift working in production areas to support operational needs and complete scheduled hours.
