Junior Python React information

What does a junior Python React developer do?

A Junior Python React developer is responsible for assisting in building web applications using Python for the backend and React.js for the frontend. Their duties often include writing and maintaining code, fixing bugs, and collaborating with senior developers to implement new features. They may also help with testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing application performance. Typically, they are still learning best practices and are expected to grow their technical skills on the job.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior Python React developer?

To thrive as a Junior Python React Developer, you need a solid understanding of Python programming, JavaScript, and fundamental web development concepts, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Familiarity with frameworks and tools like Django or Flask for Python, React.js, version control systems like Git, and basic RESTful API integration is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective teamwork and communication skills help you stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for building reliable, scalable web applications and contributing effectively to collaborative software development projects.

What are some common challenges a junior Python React developer might face when working on full-stack projects?

As a Junior Python React developer, one common challenge is efficiently integrating the backend (often using Python frameworks like Django or Flask) with the frontend built in React. This requires clear understanding of RESTful APIs, asynchronous data handling, and managing state in React applications. Additionally, adapting to collaborative workflows, such as version control with Git and participating in code reviews, can be a learning curve. However, these challenges are great learning opportunities that help you improve your technical and teamwork skills.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Architecture & Development

  • Design, architect, and develop modern web applications using ReactTypeScript, and Vue
  • Build and maintain Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) and API services (REST and/or GraphQL) that aggregate, adapt, and optimize back-end data for UI consumption.
  • Translate UI/UX requirements into efficient back-end data models, API contracts, and service boundaries.
  • Define and evolve front-end and BFF architectures with a focus on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.

Front-End & Design System Collaboration

  • Collaborate with UX and product teams to translate Figma designs into high-quality, reusable UI components aligned with shared design systems and component libraries.
  • Drive UI performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Contribute to and consume shared component libraries across React and Vue ecosystems.

Cloud Infrastructure & Reliability

  • Architect and maintain back-end infrastructure in AWS (EC2, RDS, SQS, SES, ECR) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Own and improve API performance through caching strategies, query optimization, and efficient data transformation.
  • Respond to production incidents in a timely manner and contribute to observability, monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana), and reliability initiatives.

Back-End Security

  • Integrate authentication and authorization using identity platforms such as Keycloak, including SSO and role-based access control.
  • Build secure, maintainable server-side functionality and contribute to security tooling across UI and back-end layers.

Data Management

  • Design, evolve, and optimize relational database schemas (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching layers (Redis) in support of UI-centric use cases.
  • Ensure data consistency, integrity, and performance across services.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead code reviews, establish best practices, and ensure consistent engineering standards across front-end and back-end layers.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to raising the overall quality bar of the team.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, sprint planning, and cross-team technical discussions.

Quality & Testing

  • Proactively identify technical debt and lead refactoring or modernization efforts.
  • Champion high code quality through thoughtful design, automated unit/integration/e2e testing, and CI/CD pipeline discipline.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience: 8+ years of professional experience building full-stack, user-facing web applications, including ownership of production services.
  • Front-End: Strong hands-on experience with React in production environments; advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Back-End & APIs: Experience designing and implementing UI-focused back-end services (Node.js, Python, PHP, or similar) using REST and/or GraphQL.
  • Databases: Strong experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and time series databases (Prometheus).
  • Cloud & DevOps: Experience working in cloud environments with containerization and orchestration.
  • UX Collaboration: Experience working closely with UX teams and implementing designs from Figma or similar design tools.
  • Accessibility: Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and browser compatibility.
  • Tooling & Testing: Solid experience with Git, GitLab CI/CD, and modern automated testing frameworks.
  • Debugging: Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across front-end, API, and data layers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, in-office engineering environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Laravel framework in PHP.
  • Familiarity with identity/auth platforms and API security patterns.
  • Background in storage, infrastructure, or data-intensive/enterprise-scale systems.
