In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, and healthcare professionals to develop and maintain systems that calculate payment data and help inform Medicare and Medicare Advantage policy related to risk adjustment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about coding and technology, eager to learn, and willing to grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical skills to meaningful projects in the healthcare industry while working with a talented and supportive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Software Development:
    • Write, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and scalable Python code to support various health-related software projects.
    • Implement backend services, APIs, and integrations with other systems, including healthcare platforms (e.g., EHR/EMR systems).
    • Collaborate with senior developers and other team members to troubleshoot and debug code effectively.
  • Database Management:
    • Develop and optimize interactions with databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
    • Write queries and ensure proper data manipulation, retrieval, and storage for healthcare applications.
    • Perform data validation and ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Integration & APIs:
    • Assist in designing and building RESTful APIs, enabling data exchange between healthcare systems.
  • Testing & Debugging:
    • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews to identify and resolve programming errors.
    • Implement test automation scripts to ensure the continued reliability and performance of applications.
    • Actively participate in debugging issues and fixing bugs across development and production environments.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, senior engineers, and quality assurance teams, to deliver solutions that meet business and customer requirements.
    • Document code, workflows, and best practices to support team knowledge-sharing and long-term platform maintainability.
  • Learning & Development:
    • Stay updated on new tools, technologies, and best practices in Python programming and healthcare IT.
    • Seek feedback and mentorship from team members to continually improve skills, coding practices, and technical knowledge.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional Python programming experience.
    • Proficiency with Python, including experience with libraries such as PySpark, Pandas, NumPy, Polars, or similar frameworks.
    • Basic understanding of database management and querying using SQL and/or NoSQL databases like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
    • Familiarity with version control tools like Git for collaborative development workflows.
    • Experience using Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum), JIRA and other tools to plan Sprints and track the status of changes and testing.
    • Experience writing and executing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with individuals across multiple disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, concise manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in federal consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare data projects (e.g. claims processing or payment systems) or financial/banking systems.
