Job description

The Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC) is celebrating 60 years of redefining possible.
The company was originally formed to provide innovative products and seasoned analysis to solve complex Electronic Warfare (EW) challenges faced by the US Government and its Armed Forces. Since 2016, SRC has expanded operations into Australia, Canada and the UK. We do this by focusing on our customersโ€™ needs through the innovative application of science, technology, and information to solve problems of national significance. SRC CAN Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of SRC Inc. and is helping to shape the future EW, Counter-Uncrewed Aircraft System (CUAS) and Radar technologies that will support the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and its allies.
The Job
SRC CAN Ltd is seeking a Senior Software Developer to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of next-generation EW Operational Support Systems (EWOSS) including Intelligence Mission Data (IMD) and Operational Mission Data (OMD) product solutions for the Department of National Defence (DND). Reporting to the Senior Staff Software Developer, this role will leverage software engineering skillsets to support the SRC enterprise portfolio of signals intelligence (SIGINT) and EW suite of advanced software including Radio Frequency (RF) modeling and simulation products. This role requires strong technical and data engineering skills, collaboration, and familiarity with Agile methodologies such as the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment. While the role is primarily technical, it will involve mentoring team members and contributing to people-management activities.
What Youโ€™ll Do:
  • Lead and coordinate the technical delivery for the software development team.
  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of intermediate and junior software developers.
  • Support quarterly appraisals and agree upon professional development plans for the software team to meet SRC Can business objectives.
  • Work with subject matter and domain experts to elicit software designs.
  • Author software source code:
    • Contribute to software designs, requirements, and tests.
    • Contribute to software development and integration within an agile methodology.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement across software development and processes.
  • Monitor, manage, and report project status.

What Youโ€™ll Bring:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or Diploma in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Six (6+) years of experience in software development.
  • Applied knowledge and experience with the development of distributed software systems.
  • Applied knowledge and experience with data engineering.
  • Ability to lead development teams in a fast-paced environment, think independently, and make timely decisions to overcome technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Applied experience leading software developers, either as a formal people manager or senior technical lead.
  • Excellent English verbal/written communication skills required. Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Candidates must meet the requirements of export control and security regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and be eligible to hold a Government of Canada Level 3 Security Clearance.

Additional Information
Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Ottawa, ON, is estimated at $100,000 to $135,000 annually.
The actual salary will vary based on applicantโ€™s EW domain knowledge, Software engineering experience, technical skills, and abilities, as well as other business and organizational needs.

to work remotely. Normally, you will work out of the SRC CAN Ltd office, (Gloucester, Ottawa, ON) and when required, in Department of National Defense (DND) facilities, such as the Shirleyโ€™s Bay and Tunneyโ€™s Pasture areas within the National Capital Region (NCR).
