Salary:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Climate Registry (TCR) is looking for a motivated Junior Software Developer to join our team supporting a web-based greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting and reporting application. The Junior Software Developer is part of the software development and Registry Services team that oversees TCRs GHG reporting and verification programs using the Climate Registry Information System (CRIS) platform. This system is used by organizations to track, calculate, and report scope-categorized GHG emissions data in compliance with regulatory standards. The Junior Software Developer will work across the full stack from database stored procedures and views to server-rendered web pages and reporting outputs under the guidance of senior developers.


General Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain features in a C#/ASP.NET (Razor/CSHTML) web application
  • Write, optimize, and debug Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures, views, and queries
  • Build and update SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports for GHG data outputs
  • Assist with Power BI dashboard development and data model maintenance
  • Support the public-facing portal and ensure data accuracy across reporting workflows
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation of application changes
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts on GHG data logic and emissions calculations

The Junior Software Developer will be working with the following technologies day-to-day:

  • Backend - C# / ASP.NET (Razor / CSHTML)
  • Database - Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Reporting - SSRS, Power BI
  • Front End - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap
  • Version Control - Git, Github

Required Qualifications

  • Entry-level to two years of experience working with web-based applications
  • Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in a relevant technical field
  • Proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET Web Forms or MVC/Razor)
  • Familiarity with CSHTML (Razor) templating and server-side rendering patterns
  • Competency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end page work
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Ability to write and optimize stored procedures, functions, and parameterized queries
  • Understanding of relational database design, indexing, and query performance
  • Working knowledge of SSRS creating, modifying, and deploying reports
  • Basic familiarity with Power BI for data visualization and report development
  • Understanding of web application architecture and the request/response lifecycle
  • Comfortable using Git for version control and collaborative development
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with numerical/emissions data
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

Preferred Education and Competencies

  • Experience with GHG accounting concepts (Scope 1, 2, 3; biogenic vs. non-biogenic emissions)
  • Familiarity with XBRL or regulatory compliance reporting formats
  • Exposure to cloud hosting environments (AWS or Azure) and Windows Server administration
  • Knowledge of web security fundamentals (TLS, authentication, input validation)
  • Experience with Bootstrap or similar CSS frameworks for UI development


Compensation
