Job description

This position is being advertised at the GS-5/6 grade level with promotion potential to the GS-8 grade level and is responsible for accomplishing a variety of support services.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-05 level:
Applicants must have three years of progressively responsible general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at the least the GS-04 level. General experience is experience that involved dealing with others in person-to-person work situations, in obtaining and providing a variety of services for an organization, or other work that demonstrated the ability to perform successfully the work of the position to be filled. Examples of work experience that meet this requirement include: Accurately typing correspondence, reports, or similar materials from handwritten or electronic drafts using word processing software; ensuring correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and appropriate format; using database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort, calculate, or retrieve data for standard reports; accurately and promptly transmitting and receiving documents and messages electronically; reading, routing, and processing incoming correspondence and materials in accordance with established procedures.
OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
A combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
For the GS-06 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Compiling and organizing monthly expenditure information for routine budget reporting; reviewing correspondence or documents for grammatical accuracy, correct formatting, and adherence to established guidelines; purchasing routine supplies or special-order items, including reconciling purchases in an electronic database; monitoring inventory levels and determining when supplies need replenishment.

One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled). The education was obtained in an accredited college or university.

A combination of graduate level education (such as Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled) that is directly related to the work of the position and specialized experience. The education was obtained in an accredited college or university.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
