Position Summary

We are seeking a Junior Project Manager to oversee utility infrastructure projects across Minnesota and Wisconsin. This individual could lead the coordination of design, permitting, and construction for both underground and overhead utility systems. The role requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for developers, municipalities, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead the full project lifecycle including planning, budgeting, design, permitting, execution, and final restoration.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of electric or gas utility projects.
  • Interpret and apply construction documentation including electrical one-lines, civil, mechanical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Create, update, and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Lead site meetings and design reviews with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design staff to meet technical requirements and client expectations.
  • Secure necessary permits and easements; maintain compliance with municipal, state, and federal and customer regulations.
  • Track project progress using internal databases and generate regular production reports for stakeholders.
  • Work with Estimating to provide and generate timely, cost-effective estimates and scopes using standardized pricing templates.
  • Identify and resolve project issues proactively with a focus on customer satisfaction and technical accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in project management within the utility construction sector desired.
    • Extensive experience with underground and overhead utility systems required.
    • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance for utility infrastructure projects.
    • Familiarity with GIS mapping software is a plus.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
    • High attention to detail with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
    • Strong customer service mindset and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
