Location: Northern Roads Auto Group Head Office

Availability: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

Compensation: $60,000-70,000


You'll love your position as a Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller:

  • Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile trial balances, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet schedules.
  • Perform financial statement analysis, including month-over-month, year-over-year, and dealership-to-dealership variance analysis.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, including manufacturer (OEM) financial reporting.
  • Post vehicle deals and verify deal paperwork to ensure month-end cut-offs are achieved.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports and reconcile sub-ledgers.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries with supporting documentation.
  • Complete intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple dealerships and related companies.
  • Communicate professionally with banks, vendors, manufacturers, auditors, and internal departments.
  • Assist with HST remittances, regulatory compliance, and annual financial audits.
  • Support, train, and mentor junior accounting team members.
  • Assist with developing accounting procedures, SOPs, automation initiatives, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Complete special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.


We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • CPA designation or are actively pursuing your CPA designation.
  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, trial balances, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
  • Experience performing financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Comfortable using technology and interested in AI tools to improve efficiency.


Assets:

  • Previous automotive dealership accounting experience.
  • Previous PBS or other Dealer Management System (DMS) experience.
  • Experience preparing OEM/manufacturer financial statements.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Experience with financial planning or budgeting software.
