Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has opportunities for Junior/Intermediate Environmental Professionals (Engineers, Technologists or Scientists) with experience in conducting environmental site assessment and remediation projects to be located in our Regina office.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinating field sampling programs involving groundwater monitoring utility locates, drilling and test pitting contractors, remediation and liaison with chemical laboratories
  • Supervising and direct field sampling programs involving drilling boreholes, excavating test pits, removal of underground storage tanks and groundwater monitoring
  • Conducting air monitoring and hazardous building material assessments
  • Maintaining field instrumentation and organizing field supplies
  • Management of field data and assisting in the preparation of technical reports
  • Participation and collaboration with other offices and staff on larger, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Other duties as assigned to you from time to time

Please note:  The position will require travel throughout different regions of the Province

Skills / Qualifications
  • College diploma or University degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience and / or related program, which has included studies in one or more of the following:
    • Soils;
    • Environmental Site Assessment;
    • Groundwater
    • Designated Substances
    • Asbestos
    • Air Quality; or
    • Industrial Hygiene
  • 1-3 years of related work experience
  • Sound knowledge of soils (including the unified soil classification system)
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail is a requirement (verbal and written)
  • Must be available to work overtime
  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle appropriate for carrying field equipment
  • Must be willing to travel (mostly within Saskatchewan with occasional remote northern or out of province projects)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office (word and excel)
  • Capable of working in adverse weather conditions and working long, physically demanding and varied hours in remote locations
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and conduct other physically strenuous tasks such as shoveling and augering, etc.
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated and safety conscience with strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience working around heavy equipment an asset
  • Working experience with AutoCAD, GIS and other software programs an asset
