Job description

Job Title: Safety Professional

Locations: Vernon, Texas - Traveling

Job Summary:

To ensure that the company maintains a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, in accordance with Yates management system expectations, operating standards, and safety management manual, statutory requirements, and client specifications.

Primary Duties:

  • Implementation of safety plans and supporting documentation

  • Communication of safety issues and standards

  • Coordination of safety initiatives for Yates and Projects as required

  • Safety reporting and analysis versus Yates leading and lagging targets to Project Management

  • Health programs including fitness for and return to work

  • Safety training and competency assessment, including on boarding and inductions

  • Incident classification, notification investigation, and close out of all actions to prevent reoccurrence

  • Safety assurance and verification

  • Contractor evaluation and support as required

  • Demonstrate Yates Core Values and Principles

  • Follow Yates Code of Conduct

  • Safety Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices

  • Report all incidents, near hits and hazards to management

  • Required to wear and maintain personal PPE

  • Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations

  • Participate in workplace inspections

  • Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care

  • Participate in required and/or assigned training

  • Provide suggestions to improve Safety

  • Present a mature approach to working safely

  • Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute

  • Assists with administering the site safety program as required and ensuring Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards and Yates Site Specific Requirements and all applicable safety codes and regulations

  • Other related duties as needed and assigned by the Executive Management in support of the successful completion of the project.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or GED

  • Other relevant education, training or certificate is preferred

  • CPR Certified

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ industry experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years in occupational health and safety

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in the delivery of safety initiatives

  • Enthusiastic and able to represent Yates in internal and external events

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards

Competencies:

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Builds strong relationships to drive the business forward

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective communications with all stakeholders

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • The ability to work constructively in a team environment
