Job Summary

The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting process and operational systems across McAsphalt. This role will provide engineering analysis, project execution support, operational excellence initiatives, and plant support activities to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. The level of responsibility will be aligned with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, with candidates demonstrating senior-level expertise expected to provide greater technical leadership, project oversight, mentorship, and support for more complex engineering initiatives. 
Reporting To: Engineering Manager 

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform process design, heat and material balances, and equipment sizing. 
  • Develop and update PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and control narratives. 
  • Lead or support FEED, detailed engineering, debottlenecking, and process optimization initiatives, depending on project scope and level of experience. 
  • Support HAZID, HAZOP, process safety reviews, and compliance requirements. 
  • Analyze operational data and troubleshoot process issues. 
  • Define project scopes, budgets, schedules and resource requirements. 
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers and construction activities. 
  • Provide plant support, commissioning and startup assistance. 
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, design basis memoranda, and project deliverables. 
  • Support knowledge sharing across the engineering team and, where applicable, mentor junior engineers or technical team members. 
  • Travel to company facilities as required to support capital projects, plant operations, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • P.Eng. with PEO or eligible for registration; relevant experience (7 minimum) in process engineering, project engineering, and/or project management within a process, manufacturing, petroleum, heavy industrial, or related environment.
  • Candidates with stronger senior-level experience, technical leadership capability, and demonstrated project oversight experience may be considered for a Senior Process Engineer designation. 
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, internal equity, and the level at which the successful candidate is hired.
