We are currently looking to hire a Junior Open Source Analyst (OSINT) embedded with our client in Mountain View, CA!

This position allows for remote working arrangements within the United States.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position requires the Junior Open Source Analyst (OSINT) to use business intelligence sources, internal and external tools, and open-source media to identify threats to a large, international company. The Analyst will identify and monitor viable risks to employees, operations, global assets, and the brand, reporting these threats to the department's Manager, 24/7.

The candidate must be able to work effectively within the team and must understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships. Successful candidates will have an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for finding new opportunities, an ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities, and a commitment to personal growth. Organizational change, evolving stakeholder relationships, and a variable world situation influence the work that we do, and the candidate must be able to adapt easily to such changes. Analysts are keenly aware of geopolitical risks, and they assess how those risks might impact global operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct continuous review, assessment, and collection of open-source information utilizing multiple systems and sources to detect potential threats.
  • Utilize critical thinking abilities independently to produce and disseminate intelligence products derived from open-source collection efforts to the appropriate audience.
  • Assessment of risks and threats, social media monitoring, analyzing the risk profile of company assets or events using situational crisis monitoring, and other support as needed, referencing publicly available information.
  • Analysis of threatening communications and developments directed towards company buildings, assets, or personnel, and any information of interest gleaned from monitoring press and social media mentions of situations posing threats or risks to events or operations.
  • Assist team members by performing initial collection of intelligence points as requested to support intelligence research and production.
  • Candidates may review content that is considered offensive or hateful.
  • Develop and maintain intelligence processes to meet changing requirements and prevent strategic surprise.
  • Conduct research on financial, criminal, and nation-state investigations. Provide data-driven analytic assessments about potential operational and strategic threats or risks to the company..

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree
  • Work schedule to include 5-day, 8-hours/day.
  • OSINT experience across various vendor tools.
  • The ability to effectively assess and evaluate sensitive situations including:
  • Quickly and accurately identifying and responding to critical issues
  • Research, investigate, compile, and assess information
  • Demonstrate planning and organizational skills
  • Skilled in synthesizing facts, concepts, and principles
  • Strong communication skills and the capacity to assimilate intelligence content from numerous sources into products that effectively communicate risk and opportunity.
  • Associates must be able to effectively assess and evaluate sensitive situations and quickly respond to critical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform data and technical details into actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and think critically
  • This position requires up to 10% travel
  • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in related field
  • 1-2 + years of related experience providing intelligence or risk analysis
  • Experience with the intelligence cycle
  • Experience with private sector consulting, advisory, or high-tech companies
  • Experience with leveraging technological resources for research and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to create data-driven insights based on an understanding of stakeholder needs.
  • Expertise in criminal, financial or fraud investigations or nation-state tactics, techniques and procedures are valued as are nation-state.
  • Proficiency in leveraging generative AI and frontier models, such as Gemini, to enhance professional workflows and analysis.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in commercial OSINT tools, developer tools, Python, and command-line interfaces for advanced data collection and research, including cryptocurrency transaction analysis.
  • Preferred expertise in regional geopolitics or professional-level language proficiency relevant to China, Russia, the Middle East, or the APAC region.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the intelligence cycle with proven experience applying its principles to professional workflows.
