Richardson, TX - Salary Range 80-110k
Job Brief
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Engineer to join their team in Dallas, TX. In this role, you will be at the forefront of deploying advanced packet-optical transport networks and related infrastructure for the largest and most complex network operators in the US. This is a dynamic, travel-intense position and requires 50-75% travel to customer sites to install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment and fiber optic cabling. As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and integration of cutting-edge network solutions. Your responsibilities will include performing network installations, conducting Fiber Optic Characterization (FOC) analysis, executing network migrations, and comprehensive testing.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Internal and External Project Teams to:
    • Provide technical and logistical solutions in the field
    • Proactively identify and address potential risks
    • Execute projects per the Statement of Work, and work with customers to pivot as necessary
  • Perform network deployment functions in the factory & field
    • Configuration
    • Integration and Migration
    • Testing of complex packet-optical networks
    • Remote technical support
  • Training of junior field engineers/customers
    • Continually train on new technologies related to optical networking
    • Provide training to junior employees beginning their optical networking career
    • Hands-on training for customers
  • Act as Deployment Lead
    • Perform a lead role during network deployments
    • Organize and plan for successful projects
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency at completing the following tasks:
    • Site Surveys & Technical Documentation
    • Fiber Optic Characterization (FOC)
    • Office 365 (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Visio, Word, etc.)
    • Equipment Installation involving:
      • Vendor specific requirements
      • LRT/Customer labeling and installation standards
    • Equipment Integration
      • Advanced knowledge of provisioning on multiple optical platforms such as Ciena 6500/RSP, Nokia 1830/IPD, and Infinera XTM/GX, etc.
    • Network Test & Turn-up
      • Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and testing optical networks for long haul, metro, and regional architectures

Requirements
  • 3+ years of Telecom experience required
  • 4-year degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%
