Job description

Electrical Technician IV

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite in Kohler, WI 

Opportunity

This is more than a job posting for Kohler Company, one of the oldest and largest privately held companies in North America. This is an invitation to collaborate and apply your craft to the reliability and maintenance of manufacturing assets and electrical equipment.
The successful candidate will not only provide input for our electrical infrastructure program but will also lead predictive programs and maintenance for our secondary unit substations across the campus. An understanding and application of the NEC, NFPA 70B, and NFPA 70E will forward our long-term reliability goals. Strong leadership skills and the ability to follow in dynamic situations are required to problem solve and determine corrective actions in real time.
This position will require occasional travel time.

Maintenance Strategies

  • Partner with various maintenance and operations groups to create maintenance strategies for equipment using FMEA’s, OEM recommendations, and industry best practices.
  • Create bills of materials for equipment using best practices to determine stock quantities.
  • Determine criticality of equipment and provide input on CMMS equipment structure.

Predictive Technologies

  • Drive the Kohler Co. maintenance organization to world-class status by developing and implementing innovative maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Interpret and trend maintenance test results for electrical distribution equipment and recommend corrective actions based on analysis of severity.
  • Utilize various predictive tools and technologies to improve reliability of assets.
  • Lead smart factory initiatives by implementing and improving various continuous monitoring systems. 

Electrical Distribution Equipment Maintenance

  • Manage the strategic maintenance of electrical distribution equipment such as: busways, cables, circuit breakers, metering, panelboards, relays, switchboards, switchgear, & transformers.
  • Mentor junior electricians in areas of electrical distribution equipment maintenance to reduce induced failures and improve overall reliability. 
  • Analyze the effectiveness of maintenance techniques and work with maintenance teams to improve various maintenance programs, including dissolved gas analysis (DGA) and oil analysis, infrared scanning, partial discharge analysis, and unit substation maintenance.
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and lead the recovery process.


Design for Reliability and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with project engineers on the selection and implementation of new electrical distribution equipment.
  • Provide input for and improve the condition assessment ranking system that drives the capital plan for the replacement of key electrical distribution equipment.
  • Develop standards and procedures for maintenance processes.

Skills/Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician or Lineman program completion required. 
  • Associate of Science degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering Automation or similar field preferred.
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certificate or Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) certificate preferred. 
  • Six+ years of relevant work experience. 
  • Experience with electrical distribution equipment
  • CMMS experience desired, SAP knowledge 
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products
