Blu Omega is seeking a Mobile Application Developer to support a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program focused on improving the Veteran experience. This role operates within a remote environment and is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining native mobile applications for iOS and Android. The position requires experience supporting mobile application development and delivery within a mission-driven environment.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) runs programs benefiting veterans and members of their families, including education opportunities, rehabilitation services, compensation payments, home loan guaranties, pensions, burials, and health care services.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain native mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performing mobile user interfaces using SwiftUI, UIKit, Jetpack Compose, and Android SDK technologies.
  • Develop reusable modules and manage application dependencies using Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods, Gradle, Kotlin DSL, and version catalogs.
  • Integrate mobile applications with enterprise APIs, backend services, embedded databases, and structured data formats.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts to support application automation, data processing, and development workflows.
  • Integrate third-party SDKs for analytics, crash reporting, authentication, location services, push notifications, and real-time communications.
  • Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, QA engineers, and backend developers throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, performance optimization, and application modernization efforts.
  • Support mobile application deployment, release management, and app store submission processes.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and version control practices to improve software quality and delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience developing native mobile applications for iOS and Android.
  • Experience with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Coroutines.
  • Experience managing application dependencies and reusable modules using Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods, Gradle, Kotlin DSL, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with SQLite and structured data formats within mobile applications.
  • Experience integrating third-party SDKs, including authentication, analytics, crash reporting, location services, push notifications, or real-time communications.
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, Nexus, or similar version control platforms.
  • Familiarity with mobile application release management, app review processes, and deployment workflows.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines supporting mobile application development.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing mobile applications supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal agencies.
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with secure enterprise APIs and backend microservices.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG.
  • Experience with automated mobile testing frameworks and mobile DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native mobile applications within AWS or Azure environments.
  • Active or previous VA Public Trust, PIV, or other federal credentials.
Compensation

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
