The Opportunity:
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this pivotal role, you'll be a key contributor in designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure and tooling that powers Copado's products. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, lead significant initiatives, and mentor junior team members, all while ensuring our critical systems enable developers to build and deploy applications efficiently, reliably, and at scale. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on technical leadership, deep dives into cloud-native architectures, and is passionate about driving significant improvements in developer experience.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead Design & Implementation: Architect and design highly scalable, reliable, and secure shared services (primarily run Google Cloud and AWS).
  • Advocate Best Practices & Service Oriented Architectures: Drive the adoption of scalable architectures while fostering a culture of cross-functional collaboration. Act as a bridge between technical design and organizational needs, ensuring that service boundaries align with team autonomy and clear internal communication.
  • Develop and Deploy Shared Services: Build and deploy secure, high-performance RESTful and gRPC APIs and shared services, optimized for scalable and reliable operation within Kubernetes environments (GKE/EKS).
  • Database-Driven Service Ownership: Take ownership of services requiring persistent data, leveraging deep expertise with managed SQL databases (e.g., Cloud SQL) to manage data models, optimize queries, and ensure secure data access within the platform.
  • Ensure Resiliency & Performance: Implement, manage, and optimize comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex issues, ensuring the highest levels of availability and performance for our services.
  • Champion Security: Collaborate closely with security teams to embed and enforce advanced security best practices across all infrastructure, systems, and shared services.
  • Expert Troubleshooting: Act as a subject matter expert for diagnosing and resolving the most challenging infrastructure and application issues, participating in on-call rotations with a focus on root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Mentor & Collaborate: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Work cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust, scalable solutions.
  • Innovate & Strategize: Research, evaluate, and advocate for new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can strategically improve our platform's capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Define Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive, high-quality documentation for infrastructure, systems, and operational procedures, setting standards for the team.

What You Bring:
  • 7+ years of experience as a Cloud-native Engineer.
  • Exceptional scripting and programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, Java, Bash), with a focus on writing maintainable, scalable code.
  • Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud and AWS. Proficient with a wide range of services including:
    -AWS: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch.
    -Google Cloud: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, IAM, Cloud Monitoring/Logging, Cloud Service Mesh.
  • Experience designing and building scalable, reliable APIs and services that support high-performance, distributed systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of monitoring, logging, and tracing tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Coralogix), with experience setting up advanced alerts and dashboards.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, VPNs, routing, security groups, firewalls) and their application in cloud environments.
  • Expertise with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, solve highly complex problems, and make sound architectural decisions with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence technical direction.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Our ideal candidate has:
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, including module development and state management best practices.
  • Experience designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for complex, distributed systems.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce platform development, architecture, or administration.
  • Expertise in database administration (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Demonstrated experience with security best practices, compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP), and vulnerability management.
  • Active contributions to open-source projects or a strong technical blog/portfolio.
