SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The Summer Engineering Intern supports the engineering team by assisting with assigned projects and day-to-day engineering activities. This role provides hands-on experience working on engineering initiatives, exposure to manufacturing processes, and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports engineering projects of varying scope by assisting with design, documentation, and coordination activities.
  • Assists in gathering data related to materials, tooling, and equipment to support cost estimates for new or revised products.
  • Helps review and follow established process procedures, inspection procedures, specifications, and standards; identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Assists in the development and documentation of tools, fixtures, and equipment designs to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Supports testing and validation activities for new products and materials in alignment with customer specifications.
  • Assists with training documentation and materials for plant personnel on new or updated processes.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, and Quality to support project goals.
  • Helps track project progress and provides updates to ensure timelines are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support engineering and plant operations.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Junior or Senior standing preferred).
  • Experience: Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to CAD or other engineering software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
