Job description

Job Description:
Our Team:
The Chewy+ Loyalty team builds customer-facing membership experiences that help pet parents discover value, manage their plan, earn and use rewards, and engage with personalized benefits across Chewy. We own the frontend experiences and platform integrations behind signup, member dashboards, savings, rewards, offers, renewals, cancellations, and related service flows.
Our work spans React and Next.js experiences, reusable UI packages, GraphQL and REST integrations, generated clients, observability, and close collaboration with backend service teams. We are a product-minded engineering team that starts with customer and business outcomes, then designs reliable experiences to support them. We value production ownership, CI/CD, pragmatic technical decisions, and continuous learning.
Your Role:
As a Frontend Software Engineer on the Chewy+ Loyalty team, you will design, build, and improve customer-facing experiences that directly shape the Chewy+ member journey. You will work across React-based UI, shared component libraries, API integrations, client-side data flows, testing, observability, and production support.
You will not be expected to own backend service development, but you should be comfortable reasoning about API contracts, data models, latency, resiliency, and system behavior when designing frontend solutions. Your work will help millions of pet parents get more value from Chewy through membership benefits, rewards, savings, and personalized experiences.
What You'll Do:
• Design, develop, and implement scalable, resilient, customer-facing frontend solutions.
• Build and enhance front-end components using technologies such as React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Build, maintain, and evolve reusable React/TypeScript component libraries that align with Chewy's design system and support consistent customer experiences across Loyalty surfaces.
• Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs, generated clients, and backend service contracts.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on API design, data flow, error handling, latency, resiliency, and end-to-end system behavior.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews to help deliver high-quality, maintainable code.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to frontend architecture, shared UI patterns, testing strategy, observability, deployment pipelines, and operational excellence.
• Follow enterprise architecture, accessibility, security, and coding standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to production support, incident response, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers through technical design, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 4+ years of programming experience with front-end technologies, including React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience building customer-facing web applications with reusable React/TypeScript components and modern frontend patterns.
• Experience integrating with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to reason about API contracts, data models, latency, reliability, and downstream dependencies when designing frontend solutions.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and browser fundamentals.
• Experience building high-performing, scalable user experiences.
• Ability to think independently and break down product requirements into well-defined technical tasks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience monitoring production environments, troubleshooting issues, triaging incidents, and contributing to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Next.js, React Query, Apollo GraphQL, or similar frontend frameworks and data-fetching tools.
• Experience with Playwright or similar automated testing tools.
• Experience with GraphQL, OpenAPI, generated clients, or API contract testing.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.
Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
