Job description

Overview:

We are looking for an enterprising junior to mid-level software-focused Systems Engineer to perform software systems engineering for the acquisition, development and sustainment of various aviation programs. This position requires full-time on-site presence at the NAVAIR base in PAX River, MD.


** This position is future funded and not expected to begin before September 1, 2026

Clearance:

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Candidates may be required to obtain a Top Secret clearance after beginning this work. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements:
  • At least two years experience performing software or systems engineering activities
  • Knowledge of avionics systems
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain software requirements
  • Review and evaluate vendor software specifications
  • Coordinate with vendors on software and system integration
  • Conduct analysis of software defects
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity subject Matter experts
  • Participate in System Engineering Technical Reviews (including SRRs, SSRs, PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, etc.)
  • Support the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process
  • Participate in Agile and SAFe team processes
  • Prepare and review Statements of Work (SOWs) and Contract Deliverable Requirements Lists (CDRLs)
  • Develop Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs)
  • Support technical evaluations of Contractor proposals
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with DOD-STD-2167A/MIL-STD-498/IEEE 12207
  • Experience with Systems Software, Systems-of-Systems engineering, MBSE, or systems safety & reliability
  • Experience with military aircraft avionic systems and software
  • Experience with Agile software development processes
Education: BS in a technical discipline from an ABET accredited program Compensation:

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $122,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
