TITLE: Tournament Manager

POSITION STATUS Full Time


FLSA STATUS: Exempt


LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN

REPORTS TO: Director of Competitive Tennis

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHO YOU ARE:

The Tournament Manager will oversee all Junior and Adult tournaments, including 10 and under for juniors. They will train and educate tournament directors, parents, and providers on USTA Tournament Regulations, Serve Tennis, and best practices. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication skills and is able to work well independently as well as on a team. Must be willing to work occasional hours outside of the regular work schedule.


WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:

  • Organize and manage the Midwest junior and adult tournament schedule
  • Oversee the yearly tournament application, sanctioning, and approval process for Midwest junior and adult tournaments
  • Regularly review events to confirm compliance with regulations and quality standards
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Serve Tennis and Tournament Desk software, competitive tournaments, and player rankings and ratings
  • Educate and conduct training sessions for coaches, parents, and providers on the Junior and Adult Competitive Pathways and Regulations
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on events run in the competitive space to include understanding selection and seeding processes, withdraw procedures, court scheduling, and inclement weather policies
  • Create and provide resources and materials to support District staff and tournament directors
  • Work with USTA National Staff to ensure compliance and implementation of new opportunities
  • Collaborate with other USTA Sections to share industry leading information and best practices
  • Serve as staff support for the USTA Midwest Junior Competition Committee and Officials Committee
  • Various other job duties as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Four-year college degree is required
  • At least three years of a tennis related job experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of administration of tennis programming and/or tournaments, preferred
  • Experience with Serve Tennis tournament platform, preferred
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills and/or experience with volunteers, required
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with an attention to detail, required
