Purpose

Divergent is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to develop and scale software systems that power the next generation of digital manufacturing. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, driving architectural decisions, and delivering business-critical applications across engineering, manufacturing, and factory operations.

As a Senior Engineer, you will own large-scale initiatives from concept through deployment, influence technical strategy, mentor other engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver highly reliable and scalable software platforms. You will operate with significant autonomy and play a key role in advancing the software ecosystem that enables Divergent's automated manufacturing platform.

The RoleFull-Stack Application Development
  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and modern web technologies.
  • Develop robust APIs, services, and user experiences that support critical business functions.
  • Deliver complex features and systems from requirements gathering through deployment and operational support.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and user experience across the full technology stack.
Data Architecture & Systems Design
  • Design and evolve relational and NoSQL data models supporting large-scale manufacturing and engineering applications.
  • Develop scalable data architectures that enable analytics, automation, and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure system integrity, security, performance, and maintainability across distributed environments.
Cross-Functional Impact
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics, Design Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Lead technical discussions and influence decision-making across multiple teams and projects.
Mentorship & Engineering Excellence
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design reviews.
  • Promote engineering best practices, software quality, testing strategies, and operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across development processes, tooling, and team effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience considered.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant full-stack development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Extensive experience developing modern web applications using React or comparable front-end frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in relational and NoSQL database design, data modeling, and system architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale, production-ready software systems.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Work Environment
  • This position is based onsite at Divergent's headquarters in Torrance, California.
  • Expected onsite schedule is four days per week.
Compensation

This position is aligned to E05 – Senior Engineer within Divergent's Engineering Career Framework.

E05 – Senior Engineer: $141,380 – $194,390 + Equity

Pay Range
$122,430—$224,500 USD
