Job description

Job Summary:


The Senior SAP ABAP Consultant is responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of custom software solutions within the SAP ecosystem. This role requires a technical expert who can translate complex functional specifications into scalable, high-performance code. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience across core ABAP programming, Object-Oriented (OO) design, modern integration methodologies (OData/API), and S/4HANA code remediation.


Key Responsibilities

1. Application Development & RICEFW Delivery

Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle of complex RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows) objects.

Design and implement robust solutions using Advanced Object-Oriented ABAP programming paradigms.

Develop custom enhancements utilizing classic and modern frameworks, including BAdIs, Explicit/Implicit Enhancement Points, and Business Add-Ins.

2. S/4HANA Modernization & Optimization

Remediate, optimize, and upgrade legacy ABAP code to ensure seamless compatibility with the S/4HANA platform.

Utilize advanced performance optimization tools such as SAT, ABAP Trace, and SQL Trace (ST05) to diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Build advanced database abstractions using CDS Views (Core Data Services) and AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures) to leverage inline HANA computational power.

3. Integration & Cloud Connectivity

Design and develop secure architecture interfaces utilizing OData Services (Gateway NW), REST/SOAP APIs, ALE/IDocs, and BAPIs.

Collaborate closely with functional consultants to support frontend SAP Fiori/UI5 application integration through optimized backend data provisioning.

4. Technical Governance & Mentorship

Conduct rigorous code reviews and quality assurance checks to enforce SAP programming standards, security policies, and performance guidelines.

Author comprehensive technical design documentation, architecture maps, and unit testing strategies.

Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and guidance to junior and mid-level ABAP developers within the team.


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of dedicated hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, with at least 2 full-lifecycle implementations or migrations involving S/4HANA.

• HANA Architecture Expertise: Proficient in code-to-data paradigms, CDS Views, AMDP, and Open SQL performance tuning.

• Interface Methodologies: Deep expertise in developing Gateway OData services, RFCs, BAPIs, and handling transactional IDoc monitoring/debugging.

• Forms & Outputs: Advanced proficiency in designing output management solutions using Adobe Forms, SmartForms, and SAPscript.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills for cross-functional alignment, and a proven track record of working independently under tight project milestones.
