Job description

Conning is a leading global investment management firm with a long history of serving the insurance industry.

We develop customized investment strategies that address our clients' unique objectives, requirements and tolerance for risk. We develop solutions by leveraging Conning's risk management tools and utilizing a highly disciplined investment process that relies on fundamental analysis.

The position will provide exposure to all aspects in the life cycle of a security, including but not limited to trading, new issue set up, credit/quality ratings, portfolio compliance, corporate actions, pricing, and analytics.


Maintain enterprise data quality by supporting data accuracy, consistency, and completeness of various market data elements including but not limited to security master, corporate actions, asset classifications and quality ratings for fixed income and equity securities. Maintain and develop enterprise level processes for the consistent valuation of a wide variety of assets, including Agency and Non-agency pools, esoteric ABS, private placement, and derivatives. General understanding of fixed income analytics, optionality, structured cashflows, and prepayment modeling.

Responsibilities

Support the investigation and research of issues related to SMF investment data, reconciling data between various sources and internal systems.
Oversee the daily/monthly pricing and analytic functions by addressing client pricing inquiries and creating clear customized reports that display client holdings against input prices, and provide valuable insights tailored to each client's unique requests.
Interact with vendors to ensure the accuracy and reliability of pricing metrics. Submit pricing challenges on a daily, mid-month, and monthly basis through tolerance reports to address discrepancies and maintain pricing integrity.
Own the process of setting up and maintaining prices for private placement securities, ensuring they align with market trends and internal pricing strategies. Regularly update the pricing matrix, monitor fluctuations, and address any challenges to maintain pricing accuracy.
Analyze large datasets comparing pricing across vendors, identifying key trends and shifts in security types. Use this data to develop competitive pricing models and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
Identify potential weaknesses in controls and proactively implement effective measures to ensure compliance with SSAE16 requirements, safeguarding the integrity of pricing processes
Monitor daily transactions to ensure correct calculation of fixed income analytic values
Troubleshoot and delegate missing or incorrect data that goes into modeling, cashflows, and fixed income analytic values.
Work with Quant and IT to develop enhancements and quality controls for daily analytic calculations
Uses knowledge of end-to-end data processes to analyze, cleanse, and enrich master data elements, and ensure that data flows efficiently and consistently between users and stakeholders.
troubleshoot issues related to master data management and identify opportunities for improving data management workflows in coordination with the Risk Management team
Assist with the identification of data elements and appropriate data source(s) to meet the specified requirements.
Support the creation and maintenance of standard taxonomies for critical enterprise-wide data such as asset classifications and quality ratings.
Provide data governance and ensures data integrity by supporting data management efforts across the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, information technology, or related field
Requires 2-5 years of related experience
Work is closely managed.
Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
Minimal interaction with internal & external customers
Organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, analytical mentality with problem solving, research, and follow-up skills
Ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Basic prioritization skills; experience with agile methodology a plus
Basic knowledge of finance/accounting data and systems
Six Sigma certification a plus

Technical Skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft SQL Query
