Job Details

We are seeking a Sr Energy Engineer to lead existing building decarbonization projects. In this Project Manager role you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, benchmarking, and delivering comprehensive building performance optimization and BEPS compliance strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end project management from scoping and proposal through closeout of energy engineering, auditing, retro‑commissioning, and deep retrofit projects.
  • Develop and execute energy modeling, building performance simulations, and lifecycle cost analyses to support ROI and feasibility of decarbonization strategies.
  • Advise clients on BPS compliance, regulatory coordination, and long‑term energy master planning.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, testing, inspections, and system verification; collect, analyze, and present technical data.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and project documentation for clients.
  • Support RFP/bid solicitation, construction management, and building operations during implementation.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders; ensure quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and uphold ASHRAE and industry standards.
  • Support commissioning, performance analytics, and sustainability projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align project objectives with firm standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in U.S./North America delivering energy efficiency and decarbonization projects for commercial, multi‑family, institutional, and industrial buildings with documented economic success.
  • Eligibility to work in government facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial HVAC systems; working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), ASHRAE BEAP, or equivalent commissioning certification.
  • Experience with BEPS programs in Washington DC and Montgomery County, Maryland and familiarity with other jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of utility incentive programs in the DMV area and beyond.
  • Strong real‑estate industry network and construction site communication skills.
  • Residency within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; ability to work onsite 2–3 days per week in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas.
